An initiative to enable sustainability in the arts in Wales
Sustainable Arts Wales is a new initiative (a Charitable Community Benefit Society being set up now, March 2024) born out of the experience and drive inherent across many parts of the arts sector. Our plan is to develop a network and support organisation to create the impetus and means for the arts in Wales to become a zero-carbon, sustainable and environmentally responsible sector.
As a membership network, organisations and artists will benefit from bespoke support and a combined approach to both the challenges and opportunities arising from the ambition to become more sustainable. We will foster the sharing of knowledge, skills and resources, and we will celebrate successes.
We will welcome members from all performing and fine arts sectors.
Through collaboration with the network we will identify shared challenges or opportunities and use our combined voice to lobby government and other public and private organisations to drive change.
The organisation will be light of foot, providing practical advice to our members on how to improve, yet able to expand to meet the demand and needs of its members, from policy and strategy support to impact assessments, training, project delivery and more.
